FACULTY POSITION: 2-Year Limited-Term – Lecturer or Assistant Professor Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University seeks an emerging academic to join our leading edge Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing (the School; uwo.ca/fhs/nursing/) with a 100-year history of academic and research excellence. The School, one of six in a progressive Faculty, offers academic programs in nursing at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. Exceptional simulated learning environments in the School facilitate the application of professional knowledge and abilities. A new state-of-the art building for the School opened in January 2017.

This appointment will be Nurse Practitioner Program Faculty Lead in a two-year Limited-Term faculty position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, renewable pending successful review. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with educational qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will teach in the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (PHCNP) program and work closely with the Director of the School and Associate Director, Graduate Programs, and with other faculty and staff in the development and provision of evidence-informed PHCNP education. In addition, they will provide leadership, mentorship, and support to preceptors and clinical instructors and forge connections and collaborations with community partners and agencies. Additionally, the successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in the nine-university Ontario PHCNP program consortium to support ongoing curriculum review and development. They also will have the opportunity to contribute to educational and/or research scholarship, including knowledge dissemination and exchange activities, to advance evidence in the field.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and demonstrated application of adult learning principles; a learner-centered philosophy of teaching, learning, and evaluation; teaching experience at the graduate level; recent nursing practice; and clinical teaching experience. The successful applicant will also have a demonstrated capacity to contribute substantively to an inclusive and diverse academic community. Knowledge and expertise in teaching and learning in flexible learning and simulated learning environments are assets. Applicants will be Registered Nurses in the extended class (NPs), hold a current licence entitling them to practice with no restrictions with the College of Nurses of Ontario. The minimum educational requirement for this position is a Master’s degree in Nursing.
