Edmonton Zone Medical Affairs is currently recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner (multiple positions) to manage the medical needs of ICU/CCU patients within various critical care services within the Edmonton Zone (University of Alberta Hospital Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Grey Nuns Community Hospital Intensive Care/Coronary Care Units (ICU/CCU), Misericordia Community Hospital Intensive Care/Coronary Care Units (ICU/CCU) along other AHS sites). Please Note: this is not a multisite position.
The primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive direct patient care to the Adult Critical Care population in consultation with the Intensivist / Cardiologist. The NP is required to perform comprehensive assessments, diagnosis (including ordering and interpretation of test results), interventions (including prescribing of medications), management, referral and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent is expected to provide leadership and participate in program development and evaluation, research and clinical teaching activities. The NP consistently exercises a leadership role in utilizing best practice. ). The Nurse Practitioner (NP) role is to promote excellence in clinical practice, utilizing a comprehensive knowledge base and an excellent ability to apply it to the clinical setting. The NP provides expert clinical care in managing the health needs of individuals, families and communities and requires further knowledge and decision making in assessment, diagnosis and clinical management. This position functions as part of an interdisciplinary team. The NP utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide care to individuals, families, groups and communities.
Graduation from a recognized Nursing education program. A Master Degree in Nursing with a focus on Advanced Clinical Practice. Must have current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) in the NP adult stream with current experience. A minimum of 5 full time years of related experience as a Registered Nurse, as well as current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification and ACLS are required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Recent experience working in an Emergency/Acute Care setting. Computer literacy skills mandatory (ie. Connect Care, NetCare, etc.).
NP in an acute care setting, preferably Critical Care.
