Your Opportunity:
The Virtual Opioid Dependency Program (VODP) has a unique opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join our team! The successful applicant may have the option to work from either our Ponoka office or Red Deer office and work some hours virtually from home. The VODP provides treatment for clients including youth, diagnosed with opioid use disorders who require treatment through a variety of medications. Working from a harm reduction and trauma informed approach, the NP is responsible for providing medical support, and functioning as a member of the VODP Team. Assessment, medication recommendations and prescribing, client centered treatment planning, as well as collaborations and referrals with/to allied professionals will be a critical function of this position. The NP will be responsible for providing education and support to the team as required. The incumbent must be able to work independently with a high degree of judgement and must be able to work effectively as part of an inter-professional team and commit to strengthening team dynamics by actively facilitating team collaboration to enhance client health outcomes. The NP will liaise with various agencies, community services providers, including addictions medicine physicians, other Nurse Practitioners and pharmacies. They will also need to participate in the Alberta Triplicate Prescription Program (TPP).

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner (NP) program at a minimum of a Master of Nursing level. Registration with CRNA as a NP. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Must have minimum 3 – 5 years previous experience working with vulnerable populations including those living with addiction and mental health concerns, specifically those experiencing an opioid use disorder. Calm, empathetic, culturally sensitive and an engaging approach is required to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or immediate registration into the next available course required.r information in this field.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Excellent knowledge of addictions and mental illness. Must be competent in identifying clients at risk and completing a suicide risk assessment. Knowledge of Suboxone/buprenorphine and Methadone. Advanced computer literacy. Above average keyboarding skills and proficient with computer programs – Outlook, MS Office, Skype, Connect Care, etc.
