We currently have an opportunity for a Permanent Full-Time Nurse Practitioner—adult. Arnprior Regional Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Medicine and Complex Continuing Care Unit. The NP will provide comprehensive care to adult patients, ensuring high standards of practice in the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). This role is eligible for credentialing.

The Nurse Practitioner assesses patient needs, orders and interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests, diagnoses disease, prescribes medications, and formulates treatment plans. They will work in conjunction with physicians and collaboratively with other nursing colleagues and healthcare providers to diagnose, treat, and manage acute, chronic conditions, promote wellness, and improve overall health outcomes. As a role model and champion, the NP will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

In carrying out the responsibilities above and in the interest of patient care, will be fully knowledgeable and committed to understanding and abiding by the corporation’s mission, vision and values while complying with applicable policies/procedures, including but not limited to code of conduct, health & safety, confidentiality/privacy, risk management and quality improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment and Diagnosis
o Inpatient support, rounding, documentation and treatment support as required.
o Conduct comprehensive health assessments for adult patients, including physical exams, medical history reviews, and diagnostic tests.
o Initiates referrals for consultation (medical and non-medical) in collaboration with the physician as indicated.
o Utilize electronic health records (HER) systems effectively to enhance patient care

• Treatment and Management
o Complete a comprehensive health history and assessment.
o Formulate and communicate a diagnosis, taking a differential diagnosis into consideration.
o Prescribe all medications, including controlled drugs and substances.

• Health Promotion and Education
o Develop information and education for patient/family/significant others with a focus on health promotion, disease prevention and the impact of illness.
o Provides patients with information about their conditions and treatment options, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
o Provides comprehensive health services encompassing.

• Collaboration
o Consult and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to meet the needs of the patient population.
o Engaging patients as full partners in their care plan with attention to self-care to the extent that patients are willing and able to participate in their care.
o Advances the knowledge transfer process for nursing staff by being a role model in integrating best practices.
o Act as a consultant and resource to nursing administration, medicine, members of the health care team and external groups in the process of decision-making, strategic planning and problem solving.

• Documentation and Record Keeping
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring privacy and confidentiality standards
compliance.

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in nursing science required.
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Nurse Practitioner (Registered Nurse in the Extended Class) with no practice restrictions.
• A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in medicine is required.
• Membership in the Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario preferred.
• Advanced clinical knowledge of the current best practices in caring for medical patients.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership and strong analytical skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education, professional growth and maintenance of clinical competency.
• Proven success in providing inspirational leadership in a team environment and the ability to encourage innovation and creativity amongst team members.
• Experience in diagnosing and managing common chronic and acute conditions in adult patients.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of current healthcare trends, evidence-based practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Embraces a philosophy of patient and family-centered care.
• Demonstrates leadership in clinical excellence.
