The Position:
The Master of Nursing Program, in Athabasca University’s Faculty of Health Disciplines, invites applications for a tenure-track position. This is a full-time position commencing Winter 2025. Athabasca University is a fully accredited, postsecondary institution with a commitment to facilitating open access to education.
Reporting to the Program Director, Master of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner program, this position is responsible for:
Teaching and Learning – The faculty member will be responsible for developing, teaching and evaluating graduate-level courses in the Nurse Practitioner Program.
Research and Scholarship – Developing and growing a sustained program of research in a key strategic area. This includes, but is not limited to, attaining research funding, disseminating widely via traditional and innovative means, and involving partners and stakeholders as needed.
Service to the Community – Contribute expertise to the work of groups and agencies of the wider community and public, which the university serves.
Requirements
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate must hold a Doctorate in nursing, and be eligible for registration as a licensed Nurse Practitioner in Alberta, and have three to five years of relevant academic and/or discipline-related experience, leadership experience in overseeing graduate Nurse Practitioner course coordination.
The successful candidate for this position demonstrates strong commitment to growing their skills, continuous learning, and contributing across research and scholarship, teaching, and service. Active registration in Alberta as a licensed Nurse Practitioner must be instated no later than the employment start date and must be actively maintained as an ongoing condition of employment. They are innovative and reflective educators, with experience in the online learning environment, and have demonstrable potential to develop a strategic, credible, and agile research program. Demonstrated experience or potential to lead and work respectfully and effectively as part of larger teams is essential. Openness and dedication to developing their skills and potential beyond areas of past or ongoing strength or success will be expected and fostered.
