Description

Nurse Practitioners play a critical role in CSC’s Health Services team. Nurse Practitioners collaborate with other interdisciplinary team members to deliver client centered, holistic care. Their typical responsibilities include:

• Performing comprehensive health assessments to diagnose and treat health conditions;
• Ordering and interpreting screening and diagnostic tests;
• Performing medical procedures;
• Prescribing medication;
• Referring patients to alternative services within the interdisciplinary team;
• Treatment and management of acute and chronic illness within a holistic model of care;
• Providing support and education to patients on their diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and self-management of health conditions;
• Serving as a mentor and coach to nursing colleagues;
• Providing on-call duties if required.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in nursing from a recognized university with acceptable specialization as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Possess a Registered Nurse Practitioner license in good standing from the provincial regulatory body in a Canadian province or territory. (In order to be appointed, candidates must be registered in the province or territory where the position is being staffed.)
• A minimum of five years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience in working in a collaborative practice within a multi-disciplinary team.
