Jennelle empowers those around her to excel. She is an outstanding mentor, with a passion for learning and professional development. Jennelle regularly preceptors NP students, and has been known to take on more than one student at a time. She nurtures confidence in learners whilst pushing them to deepen their knowledge base and expand their critical thinking skills.
When Strasbourg was left with a significant gap in primary health care services due to an inability to recruit a second physician to the community, Jennelle demonstrated strong leadership, innovation, and change agency as she was able to successfully advocate for funding to be transferred to a NP position. Jannelle changed the clinic template structured within the EMR allowing for better access to care as patients needed it. This template is now being implemented in a second clinic experiencing simliar struggles.
The need for primary health care services in Strasbourg is exponential. An aging community with a large surrounding rural catchment area places high demand on providers within the community. With the resignation of a fee for service physician in the community, the primary care clinic became overwhelmed. Recognizing the inability to provide safe patient care with a rapidly expanding patient panel, Jennelle successfully advocated in closing her practice temporarily. The pause in accepting new patients ensured that her existing patients were having their needs met until such time when it was safe to gradually reopen herself to accepting new patients
Outside of her clinical practice, Jennelle is a strong supporter of the arts and encourages community members to step outside their comfort zone and participate. She directs and acts in local theater productions and has been instrumental in the Do It With Class youth organization. Her work provides a safe space for youth interested in the arts so they feel valued and respected as they hone their love and skill for music and dance.
